[Closed] We work hard, and then we work harder.
Who: Edelgard von Hresvelg & Various
When: Early June
Where: Aefenglom and Dorchacht, and At Sea
What: Edelgard does some quests with her CR
Warnings: Violence, and Edelgard's usual warnings of human experimentation, blood in a vampiric context, and talk of death and war.
At Sea (For Corrin)
It's strange being on a ship, the rolling motions of the waves against the wood not enough to really bother Edelgard, though how much of that was her vampiric body and how much of it was her own fortitude was anyone's guess. Either way, she wasn't in her element and it probably showed in the stance she had adopted, staring stoically out over the moonlit water. The glimmer of silver off the horizon was entrancing, beautiful and distracting...but she couldn't deny that she was any less afraid of the water, no matter how it looked. Maybe it was strange since she didn't exactly need to breathe, but fears weren't easy to let go of.
Either way, she's definitely making waves in the bond, mulling over various things, and likely subconsciously calling out to at least one of her Bondmates.
Below Decks (For Byleth)
During the early hours of evening Edelgard's more active and attempts to be more social, since she can't exactly come out of her vampire-proof room during the daylight hours, or risk bringing people into it. It's simply a bad idea. She's not restless, exactly, but she has a lot of pent up energy. And even the Emperor isn't above pestering her other bondmate during their journey. So, she knocks on the door of Byleth's cabin...hoping to find something to occupy herself this evening. And time with a dear friend certainly is a good way to occupy oneself.
The Silent Forest (For Saber)
Edelgard was happy to take on this particular quest, and even happier to have the opportunity to do so with Saber. She'd seemed capable and competent during their meeting, and so when a pair of Wilder Witches were asking around for guards during this trek, it had seemed as good a time as any to get to know one another better. Fully armored, with Aymr slung over her back, the Emperor was covered in head to toe as the wagon the Wilders had brought rumbled out towards the forest path, the last rays of a fading sun not quite sunk below the horizon yet. An early "morning" for her, but they did need to get going during the daylight hours, and her enchanted clothing was good enough protection until night fell.
"Were you on the original expedition out here?" Edelgard asks of her companion, curious.

"Did you know this is only my second time on a ship like this?" She said suddenly, half-turning back to the other with a grin that was somewhere between sheepish and happy. She reached up to tuck some of her hair behind her pointed ear as she continued. "I mean, I've been in boats a few times, but anything this big? Just my second time." She laughed softly to herself.

She admittedly hadn't really asked too, too much about her bondmate's adventures prior to Aefenglom, but then they didn't really matter. They were in the past, much like Edelgard's conflicts were in her past.
Tilting her head to watch both the horizon and the younger woman, the Emperor allowed herself a smile as she enjoyed the way the light played along the contours of her face.
"I've only been on a few voyages myself. Enbarr has a port, but I personally am not fond of sea-borne travel. I can't swim."
no subject
Huh. That did put all the water into perspective, didn't it. Hm. She drew in a breath to shuffle her thoughts back around.
"But I can't imagine it's very hard, just..." She made a vague flapping gesture with her free hand that clearly indicated she had zero idea how to even begin swimming. At least she'd probably float...

Being a vampire is funny at times, and hey, dead jokes! Edelgard likes dead jokes.
Either way, she slips a hand around Corrin's waist and holds her, finally turning her gaze back to the moon as it rises above the cloudy expanse of water.
"As I understand it, if you fall in and get swept under, the best thing to do is slowly let out a little bit of air and then follow the bubbles up. By kicking."
no subject
"I think I'll just try not to fall in," she decided. But then, a thought!
"Since you don't breath, and your armor would sink, could you just walk along the bottom?"
no subject
That seems like the better plan, if she's being honest.
"I'm sure our sailor friends would fish either one of us out, too."
no subject
"I mean, they want us to kill a kraken, so I doubt they'd just leave us behind." She hummed softly. "Probably try to make us swim a bit because they'd think it was funny though."
Corrin had met a few rough sailors on her one whole voyage.

Edelgard was on the council, for one. And for another, they were Mirrorbound. Mirrorbound with reputations for stepping up when the city had needed help with the Mist last October.
"But, I imagine with other people they certainly would think about it."
no subject
"We should learn how to swim." She decided. "I mean. Not right this second. In general."
When they weren't on the sea.
no subject
Edelgard straightens, laughing softly.
"I've been trying to face my fears and confront my faults. That should be one of the things I address."
no subject
She realized that probably seemed condescending after she said it. Whoops
"I...I just mean, because you can pretty much control it. Just find a pool or pond."
no subject
Edelgard shakes her head, snuggling her arm around Corrin's and exhaling.
"Perhaps when things heat up more. I imagine the water is chilly, even if land isn't."
no subject
Corrin's voice was absent, as if trying to think over a way to make this work. Eventually though she shook her head.
"I guess I'll just be patient." Hm. "Though I doubt we'll fight a kraken without some of us winding up going for an unexpected swim. So maybe we'll get a chance sooner than we think!"
Did she sound excited? Yeah...yeah she did...
no subject
Edelgard chuckles to herself, amused by her bonded's eagerness.
"...Though hopefully not. I'm sure the captain has a plan. Which we'll doubtless see soon enough."
