[Open + Closed Prompts Within] June Catch-All | Garland Moon
Who: Lorenz + Open (Closed Prompts in Comments)
When: Throughout June
Where: Throughout Aefenglom and possible Quest locations
What: Lorenz adjusts to a quiet home + Quests/Plots/Whatever Else
Warnings: Gen right now. TBD as they come up.
A
[He had kept quiet about his troubles, but after the full moons had passed and started to wane in the sky, Lorenz couldn't fight the lingering restlessness that ate at his person unchecked for much longer. Even leash training his young black cat, minding the tea at the shop, and the sundry other projects he had on his plate could only do so much to ameliorate the situation at hand.
Lapis was gone. Pumpkin with her. His home within Aefenglom was, once more, too quiet for his comfort.
Craving a change in his routine, Lorenz dropped into the Purramid Cafe to see what sort of business this new establishment was. Perhaps he would pick up a few surprises for his own cat... or perhaps he might be recognized as the tall, elegant Faun with flowers in his antlers that worked at DiplomaTea. Who could say?]
B
[...For once, Lorenz seemed dreadfully out of his element. His hair and demeanor were as pristinely manicured as ever, but there was a certain spring in his step and furtive look in his eyes that betrayed just how distracted he was. Quietly biting his tongue into silence, Lorenz retraced his steps throughout town-- checking lost item bins in every establishment he went through.
His target: a simple, leather bound folio with page leaves that seemed too well worn to be a mere log of notes or personal journal.
No. It was his private book of hand-written poetry.
With each turn of his private quest remaining unfulfilled, Lorenz quietly grew more agitated and anxious as he passed through town. While ordinarily friends passing by would be met with a casual conversation, he was prone to being both startled and hurried.
He wanted to give the impression that everything was as fine as it always was. It wasn't.]

The White Heron Cup? Do you honestly think I would believe that?
[Him? Who was well aware of what others whispered about his appearance? Who was far less practiced with dance than other scions of noble houses? The only grace he knew pertained to killing.]
[Idly, some part of his mind guessed that Hanneman had lead the Eagles, if Byleth hadn't in that history. What other professor would nominate him?]
That is perhaps the only truthful thing you have uttered this conversation. [Hubert shook his head.] And yet, you choose Reigan. Is nation the only thing you hold loyalty for? Mere land, an identity the only thing you will die for?

[Intoned in a cool, crisp voice, violet eyes narrowing slightly in a show of his irritation. Truly, they may never see eye-to-eye; lifestyles within the Alliance was at odds with anyone who continued to swear fealty to an Emperor or King, no matter how charismatic they were. Scoffing, Lorenz shook his head.]
Truly, though. An identity is only one facet of it. Within the Alliance, each territory is seen as sovereign in it's own right, with the various Lords looking after the people who live on their lands in the way that a leader of a country would. This is why we call ourselves an Alliance.
We work together.
With the livlihoods of those living within Gloucester territories being directly affected by my Father's-- and perhaps someday even my own-- decisions, this isn't something I can just abandon without being certain that the farmers, merchants, and villagers are being left in good hands.
[A sigh. Maybe this truly did paint him as a hypocrit in Hubert's eyes. He didn't care.]
...Besides, it seems to me that I have already died for this Identity you make so little of in at least two and potentially more accounts of Fodlan's differing histories. Rest assured, Hubert: This is not something that I will ever falter on. The people within Gloucester's lands deserve someone better than my father-- I am not certain that this individual is the Edelgard that exists within my timeline, nor am I certain that it is Claude.
That is why I stand beside Claude-- so I can watch him, and ensure that he grows into a leader that the people within the Alliance deserves.
