A Little Night(?) Music
Who: Towa and OPEN
When: 7/12
Where: The Haven, in an open clearing
What: Local busybody saves time practicing by practicing two things at once-- come listen to some music and see a show while you're at it.
Warnings: None.
[As a witch who has focused primarily on creating and perfecting illusions more than any other form of magic, there's always been this little idea in her mind-- something she'd like to do, ever since she began learning to play the piano.
Today she's brought her keyboard outside to give listeners a taste of something that will really tickle the senses. You may hear the music first, but when you look, you'll also see an illusion that projects a beautiful starry night although it's definitely still daytime... or was, last you checked.
There's also a playful flurry of falling stars and other astronomical wonders that play out across the sky-- beautiful, vibrant colors that ebb and flow with her playing. If she's caught your attention, she'll look up and smile cheerfully with an offer.]
If you have some suggestions, I'd be happy to change my tune a little.
[Whether it's a visual or a certain musical vibe you're feeling-- she'll do her best to match your wishes.

He has the coolest friends, holy shit.
Once Towa finishes, he applauds, tail wagging.]
Bravo!

Hehe-- thank you. I'm actually... starting to get a little more confident about playing in front of others.

[Illusion magic was starting to become very comfortable for her. But then again, she'd decided to focus on that fairly early on. And it's been... quite some time since she first arrived here.]
I think it's nice that magic can be used for more than just fighting. Something... that makes people happy.

[Sure, the Bond means they don't need to be close for the benefits, but it can't hurt to see if Towa can't do something cooler if Prompto's right here.]
no subject
He applauds loudly during a lull of the music, showing his support!]
Bravo!!! This is amazing!

Towa scoots off of the bench and curtsies with a happy laugh.]
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've been studying magic for serious purposes all this time-- but this time, I wanted to try and use it for something a little more fun.
no subject
Well I'd say you nailed it! It even felt completely like your own style, both the music and the illusions.

[She blushes, but it can't take the smile off of her face. She reaches for Elliot's hand and gently nudges him to come join her. There's enough space on the piano bench for the both of them to sit. Especially sitting right up next to him, so she can lace their fingers together between them.]
It feels really nice to receive such praise from you.
no subject
Still, this feels a little nostalgic.]
It's well deserved praise. I know you've been working really hard. It's been really impressive, especially considering how many other things you have on your plate.
no subject
It takes him some time to answer, considering the question. Then considering if he should even ask. Eventually he gives his request, quiet and hopeful.]
Do you know rock?
[He can't help hoping for it, even if it feels like a long shot.]
no subject
As a matter of fact, I do know some! My classmates and I actually put on a rock concert for our school festival before I graduated.
[Never mind how small she is or how young she looks.]
no subject
It's a little weird that she says she's graduated already, but he looks a few years older than he really is. So he figures the opposite is just as likely.]
Yeah? Would've liked to hear that. Haven't heard too much of it around here.

[She starts playing a rock piece. There's clearly a number of parts missing, with no guitar or drums to back her up, but-- it has the right tone and spirit to it.]
No, it doesn't seem like it's really very popular with Aefenglom. But I do know a few people who were trying to get more of it out there. I think it would be nice to share things like that with the people here.
no subject
Almost like a taste of home.]
's a good genre. Dunno how to play any instruments, but if you're doin' a concert some time I'd come.

[Of course, Elliot could also be pretty scary when it came to music on a professional level but-- the results were always worth it.
That said--]
Have you ever thought about learning? I actually didn't know how to play at all before I came here.
no subject
Might end up usin' it on the stage some day. Wouldn't hurt.

The fae blinked at the spot, as the already faint image faded. Then there's another brief flicker of colour as another song was started. It gets a small birdsong like noise from Mikasa as her eyes closed and she tilted her head. Antenna flopping forward, ears giving small wiggles as they guided her. Letting out small little chirps as she got closer to the source of the noise, stepping lightly. It was quite a skip, she was still walking...But there was a slight spring in her step.
She's so emersed that she just walks straight into the side of the keyboard.]
no subject
Woah--!! Whew. That was close.
[She looks over her shoulder and-- sees a familiar face at her side; one that immediately turns her shocked face into a happy one. The small girl sits the keyboard up properly again and giggles, sitting back.]
Hello Mikasa! Are you enjoying the show?
[Towa is absolutely convinced that she wants to see Mikasa dancing and having a good time.]
no subject
...Movement....Yes...
The words get a few rapid blinks. Then her head jerks slightly from the hands to the witch's face.] Hello. [It's awkwardly clipped even to her ears. Very definitely not having a feral lapse there and trying to cover her own ass.]
I...I didn't know you played.
[10/10 nailed it.]
no subject
Heehee-- I don't play publicly too much. I've been playing for months now, but I'm still a little shy when it comes to putting on a show.
[But in the end, it was always worth taking that leap. Not only did other people enjoy it but... she had a lot of fun herself.]
no subject
Yeah...I'm not good at that stuff even if I tried a lesson. [She frowns slightly then her face softens. It wasn't that she'd been bad at playing. Timing and tightly controlled movements and breathing came naturally to her. Show her a piece and she could mimic it, but it lacked any feeling. But she nods at the witch.] You're good though. It sounded warm.
[Is that how someone would describe music? It is now.]

While the music plays, Natsuru lies back and focuses her eyes on the illusions playing out in the sky until the reality behind them fades from view. At first, she's in awe... then, after a few moments, Towa might notice her bondmate starting to idly hum in harmony with her playing. Her own illusions flicker in to join Towa's... not to overtake the image, but to quietly complement it. A twinkle of stars here and there, faint lines joining imagined constellations together, subtler traces of colors mingling and joining the flow of the ones already there...
Like the humming, the layering of her own subtle illusions over Towa's is simply giving in to instinct. She's barely aware of what she's doing, moved by both the music and what she feels Towa is putting into it. Of course, her own feelings of warmth, contentment, and belonging are broadcasting clear as can be back to Towa, too...]
