[A: wilde quest #1: outside of the city]
[Zack has been outside of the city walls several times now finding he’s better off when he’s doing something active and keeping himself busy outside of the hustle and bustle of magical-city life. Out in the Wilde, he can feel the heaviness in the air that the Cwyld brings due to his new sensitive senses. Having heightened hearing and smell has its uses being a part-wolf chimera.
He’s stationed at one of the smaller temporary camps outside of the city's Bright Wall where a group of infected people are trying to seek medical attention from Cwyld infected wounds. It seems some sort of creature has run amok in this area and left people injured or even killed in its wake.]
Any idea what the creature looked like when it came through?
[Some of the injured mumble and whine and only turn away from Zack and his questions. They look sickly with black patches of Cwyld scoring their skin. He frowns and runs a hand through his hair and over his ram-like horns in exasperation. He needs to find out some more information about what has happened here so he can help.]
The faster we find the issue and kill it, the better.
[B: wilde quest #3: supply runs]
[The job is travelling through the Wilde and to Smugha Cave to transport supplies and provisions to the Smugha Cave Reclamation Group. In his hand, he has three scrolled spells (minor healing, icicle, and paralysis) but being a monster he really has no clue how to use these temporary spells and will more than likely rely on his own strength and wits to get the supplies through the darkened cave.
They are encouraged to travel the caves in pairs and Zack is more than happy to work with someone in order to not only have someone watching his back but to talk with on the trip. The cavern is old and downtrodden and he hopes there aren’t any rockslides or sinkholes inside.]
So, we’re working together to move these goods to the group working inside?
[He greets whoever is going with him on this trip (maybe it's you?) with a smile and a friendly wave. Don’t mind the claws, wolf-tail and ram horns he has. Zack is a chimera and he looks strong to boot. Any creatures or shades they run into should be easy work for Zack. In theory.]
[C: a bird of a different feather]
[Somewhere in the early morning around the cottages area of the residential district Zack is minding is own business and going for an early morning run to the markets. It’s chilly for a morning in what is supposed to be summer. The weather has been fairly cold for this apparent time of year.
He turns the corner and suddenly lets out a painful yell as a sharp pain runs up his spine. He nearly stumbles and grabs onto a nearby fence post as this sudden pain rockets up his back and through his shoulders. It feels like hot shears are cutting into his bones.]
Aaaaughghhhh!!!
[He yells and drops to a knee which makes him drop the collection of food he has with him, apples and eggs toppling to the ground... Zack yells again as the pain become unbearable. Something is happening to his back and he’s not sure what. It feels like his bones are splitting from his shoulder blades so rapidly that he feels like he might pass out.
Just what he needs right now... More monster parts growing? This time out of his back? What is happening? He could use a hand.]
God... damn it!
[D: the sly seadog]
[Zack is fond of The Sly Seadog, a run-down tavern out in the harbour district. It reminds him of a lot of home or at least the run-down streets of the lower plates and slums in Midgar. Some of the best people and information can be found in places like these and the drinks are usually strong and great for the pain he occasionally feels in his head.
The chimera can be found in this tavern enjoying a drink and open to lively banter or meeting some new friendly faces. Zack looks fairly human aside from the monster traits he has gained such as the thick black ram horns on his head, the claws and wolf-tail...
And he seems to be growing wings now as well. A few sleek black and brown feathers litter the ground around the seat that Zack is sitting in. His wings are small now and obviously very new and look painful. Regardless of that Zack seems to be in a great mood. Why not get day-drunk to forget how much it sucks to have wings?!]
Hey, another round here!
[E: wildcard]
[got something else? throw it down!]

Hey, another round here!

[got something else? throw it down!]

Just some sedative potions. They're more for the... [Kaede gestured at her head with a free hand, and flexed her clawed fingers into hook shapes.] Don't know if they'll help you right now.
[Ursula didn't want her taking those outside of an emergency, but a few vials were still on her person. And two vials of that Bonding solution, though she doubted that'd help much more.]
no subject
... You've got. Wings.
[He glances at them and then realizes what that sort of pain in his shoulder blades might be. It makes his face go uncharacteristically pale.]
Let me try one of those potions. I'll pay you back for it.
no subject
Kaede glanced at her arms and their long sheets of feather when he mentioned them. The feathers on the top half of her arms and shoulders were still soft (though not as soft as the ones in her hair), but the largest ones had stiffened to the point where she thought she could do something with them.]
Little ones. Don't think they're finished yet.
[Kaede reached into one of her vest pockets, the ones that held the sedatives. She kept them separate from the others--they weren't something she wanted to mistake if she was barely coherent again.
When she was reasonably sure Zack wasn't about to keel over, she uncurled his hand from her own and pressed the little vial of sedative into his palm.]
no subject
Thanks, Kaede.
[He glances over those feathers in her hair and over her skin one more time and he looks a little more amused through the pain of his smile. He's not sure how he feels about wings. About growing wings of his own. Back home having a wing or two meant you were some sort of monster. And that makes tension in Zack's shoulders. Was he going to turn out like Sephiroth? Crazy and deranged...? No. He doesn't want to think about that right now.]
The feathers are cute, at least.
no subject
You're-- [her long ears twitched back] --welcome.
[Kaede was learning! She didn't immediately deny it. But she did huff, and the feathers on her head bristled out indignantly. She was not cute!!
The feathers were just doing the opposite of being intimidating right now.]
no subject
If I end up with feathers like you we're gonna have to figure out flying together, I guess.
[Flying. He never thought that'd be him. But his shoulder blades are going to be constant reminders that he really is a monster now.]
no subject
[Her voice was lightly curious, nothing more. Most of the Monster changes Kaede had seen were ones she barely batted an eye at.
At least Zack still had both legs.]
If you grow feathers, they're going to itch.
[The smaller Chimera leaned back a bit to get a better look at the...whatever-they-were distorting the back of his shirt.]
no subject
[It is curious to Zack why he feels so much more pain when it comes to his monster changes than other monsters. It seems like everyone has been adjusting fairly quickly to their new limbs and bodily changes. Zach just seems to be in pain all the time.
He frowns. He moves to let go of her for a moment now that he's caught his breath and he pulls his shirt off with and stretches.]
Can you see anything that might give it away?
[His back, right at the shoulder blades, is red and looks sore. Thin slits are cutting into his skin from underneath. Like the bones are trying to push out. It's gonna be wings.]
no subject
The Chimera's tail started flicking again when he let go of her, and her head tilted when he pulled off the shirt. It didn't seem like too much of a bloody mess, at least.]
Looks like your back has been cut up. [She says, impassively, like this is just a normal observation.] Can't see any actual wings yet. Or feathers.
[She didn't try and touch his back right now. Just looking made her own shoulders twinge sympathetically.]
no subject
[Zack smirks wryly. He's pretty sure now that the next change he'll be going through is most definitely wings. Wings and feathers.
He tries to stretch a little again if only to relieve the tension in his muscles.]
How do you sleep? On your stomach?
[Important questions...]
no subject
The same as I used to, mostly.
[On her side if she felt insecure, her back if she didn't--or if she was sick. And on her stomach during said hiding hiding-under-blankets excursions. Kaede rolled her shoulders, watching the feathers as they bristled up and laid flat again.]
It's just my arms turning into wings.
[Her back was free of aches, besides her usual ones born of bad posture.]
no subject
But Kaede is small and her wing-style if very different so he sighs.]
I guess sleeping would be the same for you, then. Hm.
no subject
[Or insect ones, though she didn't see any bug...things on his back.]
You're not going to fall down again, are you?
[Did she need to drag the body anywhere else]
no subject
[He already looks enough like a demon-thing, thanks.
He takes a few steps and he seems to bite through the pain. But he stays upright! This is fine.]
I think I'm alright. I might just go home and sleep.
[For hours. And somehow get some salve on his back.]
