FULL MOON
[ The last Full Moon at least happened during celebrations. Drinks, merriments, and brawls were all but a normal thing to happen. But it somehow made this whole Full Moons deal a little easier to bear. It's now the third time it happens and Reno hates it a little more with each passing month. Figures, it will pass into a routine eventually, unless they get out of this place first. This time the Moons provide him with even more feathers, not just tufts here and there, his arms are slowly turning into wings Thickly feathered tonight, even if still not enough to fly up into the sky. The rusty red only a few notches more desaturated than his hair.
And given that... potential revelations that might have happened in the month prior... he is less likely to stay at the quietness of his apartment, wallowing in the misery. He hits the town, Entertainment District mainly. The brightness of the lights there causes a bright and hot irritation in him at first. Unsteady anger, pre-battle jitters, that quickly turn into weird neediness. He craves company, and it doesn't really matter if it's a peaceful and pleasant or involves ripping someone's face off. ]
A )
[ So eventually giving into that, Reno nearly pounces someone; hand occupied with a bottle of beer, smile almost jovial but a bit too sharp. No glint of recognition in his eyes at first, if he should happen upon a familiar face. His eyesight is going to shit at night, but no way he is going to mention that. ]
Lost? [ He points at the building that hosts both a pleasure house and a pub, depending on if you go up or down the stairs ] Do you wanna go try that together? I'm kinda curious how it looks like.
——Alternatively
B )
[ When his mood crashes, and it's probably the last moment of the night that doubles as the earliest hour of the morning, Reno can be found sitting on the fence, somewhere in Haven. Sun is literally about to rise, but he's yet to see if it helps his eyes in any way. Are you going early to work/classes? Running for fitness? Whatever it is, the redhead soon-to-be harpy waves you, cigarette in feathered hand— ]
Got any fire? [ It's almost pretty please. The matches are gone, and he doesn't have the nifty Witchy powers to just make a flame out of nowhere. ]
QUEST #1 Heliofonic Hospital; the peddler
[ The potions, no doubt having its origin in dubious places are a real catch from a business standpoint. He gets a hefty cut on each potion he sells, basically. Surprisingly clean for the shady scheme that it probably is, but not that Reno is going to bother asking questions. He doesn't really concern how they're made, or whether they're a placebo or have some actual effects beneficial effects. It seems like a dumb, but an easy job. And who knows what you can learn along the way. ]
A )
[ —so should he see Mirrorbound seemingly suffering from a headache, insomnia, or even simple Monster growing pains, (or just simply being tired) he will approach them with few stock phrases about a miracle cure, and a good deal before it hits the market— He's clearly repeating a memorized phrase, not trying to hide he's here to sell shit ]
B )
[ But now that a certain hospital makes a focused effort to crack the operation down, a suspicion that it's all more than just a ruse rises. So if someone calls him out on this he will be both willing to listen and discuss the issue.
Yeah he's— ]
Listen, I got only two bottles left on me. Buy them and you'll get bonus info" [ He's not above ratting the alchemist to the guards (getting chummy with them is a better investment in the long run), but he wants to make a coin on this still. ]
QUEST #2 Under New Management; just checking it out
[ The job at the factory last month was, he'd want to say, uneventful. But that ain't true. So when the word goes around that the orphanage itself changed hands and is now under new management... Reno does go to take a peek.
From afar.
Look, it's not like he cares, okay? If he spots any face that he might have seen in Haven or identify from the network as a Mirrorbound he'll ask. ]
Hey, I heard there have been changes here. [ He starts and goes straight to the point ] Do ya know anything else about it? Word on the street says its owned by a Mirrobound
[ And that sounds like an incredibly curious thing, orphans aside. Because owning an orphange sounds like a big deal for a bunch of refugees. Also, are the kids still working oin the factory? ]

FULL MOON - B
And watches him be entirely ignored.
Mogget blinks his bright green eyes and then continues his approach, pausing a few feet away from Reno and staring at him for a few moments.]
Hold it out. [He purrs.] I'll light it.
no subject
I s t h a t a c a t?
There's a brief moment, when in total silence (how rare...) the redhead just focuses a slow blinking gaze at the cat. ]
Thanks, I owe ya. Gimme— [ He says at high speed, and extends the arm with a cigarette, deciding to play along with what the stunt that he sees. (Is this a transmutation witch? Someone playing with illusions? He can find out that later, first a smoke though) ]
no subject
How the cat actually produces the fire is by lifting one small paw, a single claw extended, and uttering a single word as he touches it to the end of the cigarette. The tip begins to glow, and the cat steps back and lightly shakes.
Around his neck is a red collar, from which hangs a small silver bell and a slightly larger magical pendant that matches the colour of his eyes.]
Long night?
no subject
He takes a deep drag from the cigarette, really taking in the sensation before he puffs out the smoke and answers. ]
Yeah. Pretty much the worst in— [ He rubs the back of his neck, and squirms a bit at the feeling of feathers there ] —three months, I think. Shit, it's been this long...?
[ He gestures with his cigarette holding hand. ]
Thanks for the save. May I know the name of my saviour?
no subject
[He watches the movement of the glowing tip of the cigarette, then turns his attention to Reno himself. It's with a somewhat delicate sniff that his brain registers bird and the fur on the back of his neck briefly prickles up...
But this is a very large bird, and Mogget quickly stamps down on those particular instincts. He sits down on the fence instead.]
I do hear that the changes become more intense as time wears on. [Thankfully not something he needs to worry about...] I don't envy you.

So even Van needs some air sometimes. He doesn't expect to be hounded by someone he doesn't actually know. That's why he makes such a face - one of partial disgust ( because don't touch him at all thanks ) and disbelief. Does Vanitas really look friendly enough to approach? ]
Not interested. And I'm guessing you've probably had enough as is.
no subject
It's gonna start raining any second, that's gonna just make eeeeeverything worse. C'mon!
[ Now that he found a witch and got in close quarters, he sure gets to feel that... a weird tingle of electricity people were telling about, or rather magic itself ]
no subject
It's just water. You're not going to melt.
[ Kind of going to smack the hand away? Look, he is better about the touching thing but there's just something about someone he doesn't really know pulling him along that just doesn't settle well at all. ]
no subject
I'd rather be dry, with a drink in my hand. [ Wet feathers feel super weird, fyi. But at least he takes a closer look at whom he caught. (Shorter than him for once, a miracle in this city of tall trees) ] —or is it past your bedtime?

No I am not. [They shake their head and then they move to look at the building the man is pointing at.] Hmm? Well, I do not mind to enjoy a drink with a stranger, yet I am not in the mood for pleasure.
no subject
I'll take what you're willing to give, Doll. [ He's got into a habit of nicknaming people... ] I'm new around, introduce me to your favourite drink.
no subject
[Too much information, Enkidu, too much information.]
You are one of the newer summons? [A soft smile appears around their lips.] Welcome here. My favorite drink is just beer. I prefer wheat beer but the one they have here does not taste like the ones in Uruk.
Why don't you introduce me to your favorite drink?
no subject
That "Uruk" place would be another ]
New-ish. Third month is starting, so I'm still getting used to this place. And I always welcome advice. [ In all honesty, he doesn't. But Reno's not a honest man, and tonight he wants to hear someone else talking. He figures playing the card of lost Mirrorbound could be of use ]
As for drinks whiskey here is surprisingly good, for how cheap it can be. They got wider variety of it than back home, I swear. [ And he leads them into the pub, sauntering in search for a place. He realizes that another reason he's drawn to the stranger is the— simply put, it's the magic in their touch. And he is starving. ] Try it neat first, but a splash of water can be a great thing.

full moon (b)
It turns out to not be necessary. He's restless to the point that he ends up running through the woods and even testing the abilities of his wings, but for the most part he spends the night getting used to his shifted form -- aware that one day, these changes are going to be permanent.
The night passes without incident and it's when the sky is a little less oppressively dark that he returns to the city proper. It's not dawn yet, but maybe pre-dawn. In other words, he hasn't changed back yet.
At this time of night, there's not many people out and about on the streets, and for that Zack is grateful -- because the few people who do happen to be walking around this late are still sending him wary glances. Or outright distrustful ones. There's no hiding that he's a chimera during the full moon. With the large brown wings at his back and the talon-like claws that have taken place of normal fingers, not to mention the lion's tail and bright gold eyes, there's nothing subtle about him right now.
When someone calls out to him, Zack halts, expecting to have to deal with some angry citizen who's just bothered by his very existence.
Instead, it's... Reno. Except he's got a lot more feathers than he used to have. Huh.
Zack approaches, giving Reno a moment to take him in since chances are he didn't even recognize him at first. Though other than his eyes, Zack's face is more or less unchanged. ]
Nope. I'm a chimera, not a dragon.
[ No fire-breathing for him. He eyes the cigarette, then shakes his head. ]
That stuff'll kill you.
no subject
Nah, it works too slowly. Something else will catch me before it does. [ Gallows humour, his favourite! But, hey, he's really disappointed. Seems like lighters are here a luxury item. Or it's just his bad luck... ] But I'm touched that you care.
[ Now, it's only teasing, maybe with intention of getting a reaction. But the light-hearted tone it was intended to had kind of falls short. Figures. ]
Chimera, huh? Sounds like that's something with growing pains.
no subject
Once again, Zack has to take a moment to be relieved that he doesn't have to worry about Shinra's oppressive presence here.
He and Reno are hardly close, far from it, but that doesn't mean that Zack wishes ill will on him now. It might have been different if they were back home and in direct opposition to each other, but they've already called a truce. So, he just shrugs. ]
You could say that, yeah. Full moons can be rough. [ He isn't going to reveal more than that. For now, Zack's more curious about Reno's changes, and he closes the distance between them to get a closer look. His memories of seeing a transformed Sephiroth are fuzzy, but... ] Harpy, huh?
[ Instead of wings growing from Reno's back, his arms seem to be shifting into them. It's an important difference. ]
no subject
The figure comes closer, and within the light of the lampost and— ah, Zack, that's why the voice was more than familiar. It was close to a blunder, good thing he didn't ask Zack for his name, or something like 'do we know each other?' Nothing personal, if he could he would rather not disclose his eyesight problem to anyone.
Reno rubs his eyes, for all this squinting and then spreads his hands wide. ]
Looks like it. Can you imagine what's this shit doing to my wardrobe? [ Time to either shop for new, harpy friendly clothes... or cut off the sleeves of everything he got, hoping it won't fall apart. ] Just so we're clear— no Chocobo jokes allowed. Ever.
[ Full Moons can pack up and go straight to hell. But you can't tell of celestial bodies— right you can, (what else are Turnskins and their howls, whines, and so on), but the celestial bodies are not going to listen. ]

Someone who's trying to sell her something, anyway. She blinks a few times and looks at him, surprised. ]
Either you really think I need this, or you're actually looking for someone to test this out for you. [ ... ] I don't know...what's in this?
no subject
You look weary, and sometimes normal coffee doesn't cut it— between you and me, most of the coffee here sucks. [ Or, rather, he dislikes cheap coffee, and quality stuff is a bit above his paygrade ] It tastes like orange soda, so it's both refreshing and energizing! All made with natural, high-quality ingredients and magic.
[ All of this lacks one thing — an actual answer to her question ]
no subject
[ And she's not just saying that because she works there or anything, nope!! Not biased at all, definitely not a barista there either. She's huffy about it though, and she's caught on to the fact that he's not really answering her question. ]
What do you mean by "natural, high-quality ingredients"? Are you gonna get specific or what?
no subject
Hmm, haven't tried that one. I just might, maybe it will change my mind! But you gotta check mine too, and then we're even. Sounds like a deal?
[ One last attempt at dodging the question... he doesn't know what's in it. He's just selling the goods... ]

Full Moon A
Which one?
[While he's definitely a Monster and not the Witch, up close there's a faintest feel of magic (he's fed very recently, and being Bonded to two Witches gives him more than enough sustenance.}]

Even in his a little addled brain, it's not hard to understand what it means. A lucky, well-fed bastard, that's what this guy is. ]
I've been to plenty of pubs around here. [ So yeah he's speaking about the other option, as he takes first steps up the stairs, and seeing if the dragon will follow the tug.
Later, he might laugh and wonder what the fuck is wrong with him, but not now. ]
no subject
The establishment looks decent enough though a bit on the cheaper side. Someone approaches them. At first glance Archer thinks her a girl, but quickly corrects his mistake; she's much older, the dimmed light gives her soft features a semblance of youth.]
How can I help you?
Do you have rooms for rent?
no subject
Not just any room. Make it the best one. [ He interjects, not even consulting the price. But now that they're in a lit room he gets a better look at the dragon he caught. Bastard is almost intimidatingly tall— but the size was never something that he saw as threatening.
There's a voice warning him about stupid decisions, maybe that's part is what is trying to scare Archer away with the potential bill— or, he's just being an ass as he always was. ]
