[A: wilde quest #1: outside of the city]
[Zack has been outside of the city walls several times now finding he’s better off when he’s doing something active and keeping himself busy outside of the hustle and bustle of magical-city life. Out in the Wilde, he can feel the heaviness in the air that the Cwyld brings due to his new sensitive senses. Having heightened hearing and smell has its uses being a part-wolf chimera.
He’s stationed at one of the smaller temporary camps outside of the city's Bright Wall where a group of infected people are trying to seek medical attention from Cwyld infected wounds. It seems some sort of creature has run amok in this area and left people injured or even killed in its wake.]
Any idea what the creature looked like when it came through?
[Some of the injured mumble and whine and only turn away from Zack and his questions. They look sickly with black patches of Cwyld scoring their skin. He frowns and runs a hand through his hair and over his ram-like horns in exasperation. He needs to find out some more information about what has happened here so he can help.]
The faster we find the issue and kill it, the better.
[B: wilde quest #3: supply runs]
[The job is travelling through the Wilde and to Smugha Cave to transport supplies and provisions to the Smugha Cave Reclamation Group. In his hand, he has three scrolled spells (minor healing, icicle, and paralysis) but being a monster he really has no clue how to use these temporary spells and will more than likely rely on his own strength and wits to get the supplies through the darkened cave.
They are encouraged to travel the caves in pairs and Zack is more than happy to work with someone in order to not only have someone watching his back but to talk with on the trip. The cavern is old and downtrodden and he hopes there aren’t any rockslides or sinkholes inside.]
So, we’re working together to move these goods to the group working inside?
[He greets whoever is going with him on this trip (maybe it's you?) with a smile and a friendly wave. Don’t mind the claws, wolf-tail and ram horns he has. Zack is a chimera and he looks strong to boot. Any creatures or shades they run into should be easy work for Zack. In theory.]
[C: a bird of a different feather]
[Somewhere in the early morning around the cottages area of the residential district Zack is minding is own business and going for an early morning run to the markets. It’s chilly for a morning in what is supposed to be summer. The weather has been fairly cold for this apparent time of year.
He turns the corner and suddenly lets out a painful yell as a sharp pain runs up his spine. He nearly stumbles and grabs onto a nearby fence post as this sudden pain rockets up his back and through his shoulders. It feels like hot shears are cutting into his bones.]
Aaaaughghhhh!!!
[He yells and drops to a knee which makes him drop the collection of food he has with him, apples and eggs toppling to the ground... Zack yells again as the pain become unbearable. Something is happening to his back and he’s not sure what. It feels like his bones are splitting from his shoulder blades so rapidly that he feels like he might pass out.
Just what he needs right now... More monster parts growing? This time out of his back? What is happening? He could use a hand.]
God... damn it!
[D: the sly seadog]
[Zack is fond of The Sly Seadog, a run-down tavern out in the harbour district. It reminds him of a lot of home or at least the run-down streets of the lower plates and slums in Midgar. Some of the best people and information can be found in places like these and the drinks are usually strong and great for the pain he occasionally feels in his head.
The chimera can be found in this tavern enjoying a drink and open to lively banter or meeting some new friendly faces. Zack looks fairly human aside from the monster traits he has gained such as the thick black ram horns on his head, the claws and wolf-tail...
And he seems to be growing wings now as well. A few sleek black and brown feathers litter the ground around the seat that Zack is sitting in. His wings are small now and obviously very new and look painful. Regardless of that Zack seems to be in a great mood. Why not get day-drunk to forget how much it sucks to have wings?!]
Hey, another round here!
[E: wildcard]
[got something else? throw it down!]

A
But today he was here for something a little different. As important as music was, it was also important to make sure these people stayed safe. So he was here alongside Zack, ready to help stop what threatened the people here. Not being the most assertive person, he lets Zack do the talking first. But when that's not seeming to work...]
I know, we need more. How about you let me try?
no subject
And he's grateful for Elliot's presence. Maybe he's got the right attitude to turn the tide. Zack nods with a light smile.]
Yeah, go for it. Maybe I'm just too scary with the horns and all.
[There are several to pick from. A man with a cloth covering his mouth, black spots of cwyld littering up his bare arms. A woman who seems to be weeping and cradling a bandaged elbow. And the worst of it is a small boy who has bandages around his head and over one eye who is seen sipping at a cup of water.]
no subject
Aww...I wouldn't say that. I think your horns are endearing. They're just in a lot of pain right now.
[Pain can make anyone close up and not want to talk. He pulls away from Zack and moves near the people, kneeling down. His attention is focused on the small boy, but he's addressing all of them]
Excuse me everyone. I'm not skilled enough yet to cure the Cwyld, but while you wait I'd like to sing you something to soothe the pain.
[The people don't really seem to react other than mild curiosity. Elliot will clear his throat, and start to sing an old song from home. He's got a nice voice, but more important is it's pretty clear from the magical energy going on this is actually a spell meant to soothe people and ease pain. Which, amazingly, it seems to help. As the song continues, the people seem to ease up and become more attentive to their surroundings. It's no cure for the Cwyld, they'll need a Coven witch for that, but it puts them in better spirits at least.
When Elliot finishes, he nods his head at the small amount of clapping he gets. He looks up at Zack]
Okay. Try now?
no subject
Good work, Elliot.
[In particular the little boy with bandages on his head seems to smile and he comes a little closer while nervously fiddling with his sleeve.]
"You guys... are really here to help stop the monster?"
[Zack smiles although he's not sure how to respond to the kid calling the creature that attacked them a monster. No relation, right? Zack drops to a knee to meet the kid's eyelevel.]
Yeah, that's exactly why we're here. We want to stop that big bad so it can't hurt you or your family ever again. Can you tell us what you think it looks like?
"Errmm..." [The boy glances at Elliot.] "It was like... a big black... smoky shadow."

[ Majima flashed Zack a quick grin. ]
Been a while, man. How ya been?
no subject
Majima! Great to see you're out here with the rest of us! This should be no problem.
[He trusts the man and it'll be interesting to work together and get to know him better. The cart is fully loaded and the horse in front hooves at the dirt.]
Doing great so far, been working to keep myself busy and all. How're you?
no subject
Need help with those spells? I'm gettin' pretty good at this magic junk.
[ Although that apparently wasn't going to stop him from calling it 'magic junk'. He patted one of the horses' noses as the cart began to slowly push forward. ]

Cloud Strife
Hey, Cloud.
[He gives him a wave that morning. The sun is up and bright but the morning is chilly for a day like this. He runs a hand through his dark hair, brushing it back from the curls of his horns.]
About what we talked about...
no subject
We talked about a lot of things. Be more specific.
no subject
You know what I'm talking about, man.
[The one BIG thing they talked about.]

The Chimera's wings didn't...precisely function as she expected them to. She fell straight to the ground when she jumped--maybe a bit slower than usual, and once a breeze caught her crosswise and sent Kaede stumbling. But, now that she was using them instead of trying to dodge around them when putting on clothes, the feathers on her arms seemed rather small yet. Maybe they still had growing to do? They didn't even reach to her waist, and were still horrifically itchy--
A scream split the air, and at first Kaede just swiveled a tapered ear towards it without looking up from scratching at the scruffy feathers on her arm.
--she knew that scream.
...ugh, she'd need to get involved now.
The Chimera hopped off of the corner of a woodshed she'd been perching on, pulling herself forwards with her long arms to hurry her movements. Despite her earlier apathetic response, she was actually kind of concerned now. That was Zack. She'd never heard Zack scream like that, even when they were both stumbling out of the Looking-Glass House.
But he still looked like him, if that figure crumpled on the path was any indication.
Kaede hopped a fence, dodged the fallen apples, and automatically reached out for his shoulder.]
Zack? What happened?
[He was obviously not okay, so she didn't bother with that one.]
no subject
He winces hard and tries to grit his teeth through the pain when he hears a familiar voice. He looks up from his crouch on the ground and can make out her face in the haziness of his pain.]
Kaede... ? [He huffs.] Monster changes... I'm assuming...
[He hardly knows what else he should do but grit through the pain.]
My back feels like it's being electrocuted.
no subject
Zack didn't seem to be standing on any wires--there weren't any at all, as far as Kaede could tell. The antlered Chimera kept holding onto his shoulder regardless.]
Need to see the Coven?
[She dodged around saying infirmary--or worse, doctor.]

And really, she had been curious more about the place mentioned in the ads, if anything else. She knew it might be rough, but she could handle herself, as she always has.
Her wings are small, much like his, but pure white, much like her hair. There's a swishing, speckled tail, like that of a wild cat now, and she's wearing gloves-gloves that are specially made for clawed monsters.
Her gaze is still calm, still golden-even if a little different from before. It was easy to find him, and slid into the seat beside him with a soft noise.]
It seems I always find you in bars. Does that round include me?
[She might sound just a little flirtatious. Maybe, because she is and it's better then talking about how they both have wings.]
no subject
[He can't help the smile he gets when she slides up next to him. It was a pleasant time with her last time and now that his head is a little less hazy with a certain kind of drink he might be able to keep his hands to himself.
Not that he regrets it, far from that. She's a catch. And he does note her new tail and wings with a bit of a surprised expression. Chimera's really are the most shocking visually out of all the monsters, aren't they.]
We can't keep meeting up like this. [He teases with a wave to the bartender for more drinks for the both of them.] It's good to see you.
no subject
Though it looked as if they've both had gone through some changes since they had seen each other last.]
We'll just have to set up dates then. But-it's good to see you too Zack. Life has been treating you well, I hope?

[Justine appears behind Zack with a light smile shaping her lips. She doesn't usually come to theses bars but she does spend a great deal of time at the beach and has slowly begun to learn the places that were nearby should she want to escape the summer heat for a few hours.]
Do you mind if I join you? [She points at the empty seat to his right but waits until he agrees to sit down.
Justine is wearing her bathing suit with a light sheer fabric wrapped around her slender frame like a dress. Her sandals make her feet look bare while thick clumps of wet silky black hair fall messily around her cheeks. She'd just finished one of her swimming practices and is looking to relax before returning home. She hasn't seen Zack for a while but he is always good at having fun and Justine enjoys the time that they've previously spent together.]
no subject
Looks like you are too. Enjoying the water?
[It's good to see her. While their last meeting was interesting to say in the least he enjoyed himself and it was fun. He wouldn't mind hanging out with her again.]
How you been, Justine?
no subject
Yes. I've been learning to swim. Paris is teaching me.
[She'd almost drowned twice and that's enough for her to decide that it's a good idea.]
I've been better now that it's warm again. I missed the sun and while I don't hate the cold, I'm not it's biggest fan either.

She left the talking to Zack for the moment, but it was fairly clear that the civilians were frightened. So, she opted to help out.
Not in any vocal capacity, because she was bad at that sort of thing, but rather with a spell. Just a simple Bravery spell, making the person he was talking to more likely to speak up about what happened.
Just gonna stay over here...try not to seem too grouchy]

"It was a giant cloud of smoke. I don't know about you but how the hell do you fight a cloud of smoke?"
[Zack frowns and crosses his arms over his chest.]
There's plenty of ways. Fire, I'm guessing.
[Guess who might get to cast more fireballs today?]
"You two don't seem that strong. You're going to die out there."
no subject
Chandra listens, letting the guy talk to Zack. Right up till the very last bit.]
...Yeah, I've heard that before. 'Oh Chandra, you're too weak and you're nothing, blah blah...'
[now she steps up, grabbing Zack by the hand and laughing.]
...Killed the god that said it, too. Let's go, Zack, smoke monsters are something I can handle no problem.
